Mindfulness changes how our bodies and minds respond to stress, supporting increased self-reflection and self-regulation. Incorporating mindfulness practices into clinical sessions encourages self-care, compassion, and calm while possibly strengthening the prefrontal cortex (attention and impulsivity control) and reducing reactivity in the limbic system (emotional processing). A calm mind is in a better position to process information, make connections, and enjoy the process of learning.
